Our next concert is on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 pm in the RHS auditorium. Join us for an evening of holiday music performed by the various Roswell concert bands and ensembles. Stick around after the concert for a delicious dessert reception.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR DESSERT RECEPTION
The board is looking for a few volunteers to assist with the set up, serving and clean up for the reception and a few more baked goodies too. We’d love to see a new name or two in the sign up (wink, wink). CLICK HERE to be taken to the sign up in MTK.
FUNDRAISERS UPDATE:
Band families you are amazing!
As of this morning, we have $9,949 between the two fundraisers for Rock-a-thon and the popcorn sale. Absolutely incredible! We still have some donations coming in and the popcorn sale will close officially Sunday.
Thank you to all the parents who have helped out and the students who participated and helped promote our fundraisers. We are just shy of our $10K goal but we know we will close that gap in the next few days. Remember donations can be received until December 20th.
We are so grateful for your support and cannot wait to put our new sound gear to use in the coming months.
OPEN BOARD POSITIONS FOR 2025
The support of our parents is crucial for the success of The Roswell High School Band. As the marching season comes to an end it is time to bring in new members to the board to replace the parents of graduating seniors. We have a few positions that we need filled for the board and several smaller supporting positions we would like to fill this year. Ideally, these positions can be filled by parents of rising Sophomores and Juniors for a 2-year commitment. These are positions we would like to fill for our January board changes.
Co-Treasurer:
The co-treasurer will work with our current treasurer, Renee Lewis. This position requires only a few hours of work per week keeping the financials of the band up to date to ensure we remain within the budget proposed for the season. This position will require an average of 1-3 hours during Marching Band season and 1-2 hours a week the remainder of the year.
VP of Fundraising:
Fundraising is critical to our band program. Fulton County Schools funds only about 30% of our program each year. Most of the funds we need to support additional class instruction, resources for marching band, indoor percussion and guard are funded by fees and donations received through our fundraising efforts. We need 1 or 2 parents who can take the lead on overseeing and growing these events. This is a position that can largely be managed from home but will require an hour or two each week to ensure success.
Both board positions would allow you to participate in the larger board voting and decision-making process and help drive the vision of the program as it continues to grow.
In addition to these critical roles, we have several non-board roles that help keep things operating smoothly. These are generally an hour or less a week except for concessions which is concentrated on Friday night home games.
Concession Stand Coordinator
Concessions on Friday nights is one of our biggest fundraising opportunities. We need a parent or two that can learn and prepare to take over as our current parents will have Seniors in the fall. We typically host 5 home games + possibly 1-2 playoff games. Fall only Aug-Nov.
Uniform Coordinator
This is a parent who can help ensure uniforms are sized and mended as needed. They will track which uniform is assigned to each student, identify any missing items that need to be replaced and organize the uniform room.
Ameris Coordinator
This can be largely remote. We need a parent to work with our contact at Ameris to manage which shows we work and volunteers for each shift. This person will also work with the Treasurer to ensure credits are applied. This runs March-October.
Social Media Coordinator
We need a parent to work with Mr. Roberts and our Director of Communications to prepare and post content on our social media sites. This helps promote our band programs and provide awareness of upcoming events.
We hope you will consider giving time to one of these roles. It's a great way to be involved and get to know the kids and families and have fun! If you are interested in any of these positions or have any questions, please reach out to us. We would love to talk through what might be a great option for you. You are welcome to email, call or text either of us at the following contact information. president@roswellband.com, Lynn Fagan: 678-372-1926 and Kristy Reiver: 404-641-9313
