Congrats to the Hornets for a fantastic football season! Friday night's game was a hard one, for sure. Thanks to everyone for their hard work! Even though marching band season is over, Roswell Band still has lots of fun happenings going on - see below for important updates!

THANK YOU, BAND FAMILIES

Band families, THANK YOU for keeping our kids safe, fed (and hydrated!), raising funds from selling parking spots and concessions, grilling hundreds of burgers and dogs, schlepping equipment and props, photographing the kids in action, washing uniforms, and many more behind-the-scenes tasks that went into creating an award-winning “Circle of Life” show and unforgettable high school memories for our students!

Band camp, football games, concerts, and competitions would not have been possible without our band volunteers, and we are so grateful to each and every one of you who helped make this season a success. Check out some snapshots of our volunteers in action on Smugmug. 

ROSWELL DECK THE SQUARE

We will be decorating the RHS Band tree this week on Wednesday, Nov. 29 after school. Please meet at Historic Town Square around 4/4:15 to help decorate our “Circle of Life” tree. We were given tree #4 near the pavilion (see circled tree on map below). See you there!

12/2 ROCK-A-THON DETAILS

Get excited - the Rock-a-thon is next Saturday!! As a reminder, this fundraiser is for all band and guard students, and each participant must bring a completed pledge form of at least $50 of pledges. The money is not due until Fri, Dec 15th, so you have grandma/aunties/neighbors pledge a set dollar amount or a certain number of $ per hour of rocking! 

We will feed the kiddos three times: pizza for lunch, hot dogs/hamburgers for dinner, and a breakfast buffet at 11pm. Each participating student should bring in snacks/drinks to share and $5 for pizza.

We also need volunteers to help this event be safe and FUN! Sign up here to volunteer!

Doors open around 10am on Saturday and the event starts at 11am. Make sure to give yourself time to set up your chair and accessories before the event begins!

JOIN BAND BOOSTER BOARD

Do you want to be more plugged into the band? Are you looking for a meaningful place to share your time and talents WHILE having lots of fun?? If you said yes to those questions, you should consider joining the Booster Board! Open positions for calendar year 2024 are: 

Treasurer: help the directors and Boosters be good stewards of our band funds

Co-President: work closely with Lynn Fagan and learn the ropes of running the Boosters. You'll have your hands in many different things and will never be bored! 

VP of Support Services: solicit and organize volunteers to help the band program run smoothly (concerts, marching band, RIP, etc.)

Director of Communications: write the Stinger newsletter, update the city of Roswell calendar with external events

Please reach out to president@roswellband.com or any of the current board members to express interest. Don't worry, we'll train you and your predecessors (senior parents) are still around for 6 months! Many hands make light work. 

SHOUT OUT TO DANIEL MARTINEZ

Congratulations to our very own Daniel Martinez for being selected for Fulton County Honor Orchestra! You read that right - besides playing in both Roswell Rhythm Section and Marching Band (and doing crazy flips during halftime), Daniel also excels at playing the bass. Way to go, Daniel!

HOLIDAY CONCERT ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7

Our next concert is on Thursday, December 7 at 7pm in the RHS auditorium. Prior to the concert, we are excited to announce that the Roswell Saxophone Ensemble will be playing in the lobby! 

The Roswell bands will also be supporting Toys for Tots. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. These gifts will stay in the North Fulton area, so we are giving back to our immediate community.
